Our Story
At the Coalition of Hispanic Organizations (COHO), we strive to create a strong, supportive community for Hispanic individuals and families in the greater Tulsa area. Since our founding on February 10, 1994, COHO has brought together a diverse array of groups to address the unique challenges our community faces. Our focus areas include health, education, and immigration, and we believe in the power of unity and the strength of diverse voices working together for a better future.
From our inception, COHO has aimed to foster collaboration among community members and local organizations. Recognizing the need for better communication and resources, we began by compiling directories, offering interpreter services, and organizing community events. These efforts continue today as we work through advocacy, education, and resource sharing to empower individuals and families to achieve their potential and positively impact society.
Our mission thrives on community involvement and collaboration. We invite you to join us in our efforts—whether by volunteering your time, donating resources, or simply sharing our story. Together, we can continue building a place where every voice is heard, and everyone is valued. Join us on our journey towards empowerment and progress.
Our Initiatives
Health:
Promoting the health and well-being of the Hispanic community is at the core of our mission. We organize health fairs and educational sessions to address prevalent health issues, provide access to resources, and encourage preventive care.
Education: By intentionally partnering with local organizations to support the educational needs of our community. One of our proudest traditions is our annual Back-to-School event. This dynamic gathering is a celebration of education and community support. Thousands of students benefit from this event, receiving not only essential school supplies but also haircuts and backpacks to kick off the school year with confidence.
Immigration:
Navigating the complexities of immigration can be challenging. Our coalition offers a range of services to support and guide individuals and families through the immigration process. We host informational forums twice a year.
